Betty Rose, nee Koenigstein, Hepp, 88, of New Athens, IL; born on March 22, 1929 in Red Bud, IL; passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, IL.
Mrs. Hepp was the co-owner and operator of Hepp Truck Service. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ where she also served in the Women’s Guild and sung in the choir. She was a member of the New Athens Lions Club, the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and the Broad Hollow Grange. Betty and her husband, Vernon, enjoyed over 20 years in retirement as snowbirds heading down to Lakeland, FL during the winter months and were active in that community. They also loved their card group at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents – William and Amanda, nee Dannenberg, Koenigstein. Her husband – Vernon Hepp who passed away on April 30, 2015.
She is survived by her children – David (Sue) Hepp of New Athens, IL, Cheryl Zanders of Red Bud, IL and Dennis (Bonny) Hepp of Red Bud, IL, 7 grandchildren; Dionne (Scott) Harriss, Clayton (Ali) Hepp, Michael (Christy) Hammel, Nicole Zanghi, Lisa (Dan) Martino, Daniel (Molly) Hepp and Jeremy Hepp. 11 great grandchildren. 2 brothers – William (Lorraine) Koenigstein of Red Bud, IL; Norman (Rosemary) Koenigstein of New Athens, IL. 2 sisters – Jean Bosworth of Belleville, IL; Faye (Dave) Mehrmann of Columbia, IL.
Memorials may be made to the St. John United Church of Christ Women’s Guild or to Oak Hill Nursing Home.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9:00am to 10:00am.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00am with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held in St. Marcus Cemetery in Red Bud, IL.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
