Bertha D. Juenger

Bertha D. Juenger
Bertha Delores Juenger, formerly of rural route Lenzburg, IL, passed into her eternal life with her Father in Heaven on February 17, 2022.  As per her request, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, IL.  No funeral will be held at this time, but a celebration of life will be held sometime in the future. Memorials may be directed to Staude Cemetery of Okawville, Illinois.
Bertha Delores Helbig was born on June 18, 1930, in Washington County, Illinois, to Delio and Bertha (Dintelman) Helbig. She was the youngest of 11 children. She married Arnold N. Juenger on September 24, 1949, in Darmstadt, Illinois. Arnold preceded his wife in death on August 2, 2013. Other family members who preceded her in death include her ten brothers and sisters: Delia Behrens, Rachel, Isabella Poelker, Delio, Ethel Hammon, Franklin, Melvin, Albert, Opal Koesterer, and Selma Shook.
Bertha was proud to be a graduate of Okawville High School as a member of the Class of 1949. She enjoyed the class reunions she was able to attend and cherished the memories she had growing up as a country girl. Her high school training allowed her to work for years as a very reliable and efficient bookkeeper while also keeping the home fires burning. A very vocal fan, she enjoyed attending New Athens High School basketball games to see daughter Linda cheer and son Arnold Jr. play ball. As a mother she always emphasized education with her children and worked to see them both graduate from Eastern Illinois University and go into the field of education themselves. This emphasis on education is something that was passed on to grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. As she grew older, Bertha always enjoyed living in the country, riding her bike, raising animals, sewing, and cooking. Her wonderful homemade ice cream sandwiches always made you want just one more. Picking wild blackberries and then making jelly was a job she enjoyed along with making apple butter outside over an open fire in the fall. She was never afraid of work.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Pete) Davidson of Moline, Illinois and Arnold
(Angela) Juenger Jr. of Orion, Illinois. Four granddaughters include: Amy (Aaron)
Kayser, Beth (Johnny) Russler, Rebekah (Erick) Ewaskowitz, and Sarah (Nicholas)
Eisenmenger. A total of 10 great-grandchildren will miss G- Girl. They are: Eli and Abi Kayser, JJ and Lucy Russler, Noah, William, and Miles Ewaskowitz, Quinn, Laney, and Rhett Eisenmenger. Two sisters-in-law, Vera Juenger of Smithton and Ruth Juenger of Lenzburg also survive along with several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held sometime in the future.
