Barbara Jo Schickedanz, nee Jackson, 67, of Sun City Center, FL; formerly of Marissa, IL; passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 after a courageous 17 year battle with cancer.
She was born in Belleville, IL, to Elmer “Stonewall” Jackson and Virginia, nee Mellon, Jackson on April 6, 1949. She received a degree in education from Sangamon State College and later received a professional secretarial degree. She worked as a legal secretary and office administrator for several law firms in the St. Louis Metro area. After “retiring” to Florida she became involved with many local organizations, including her local home association, where she served as President for many years.
She is survived by Allan, her loving husband of 46 years, son Stephen (Tanya) of Maplewood, MO, daughter Dayna (Jeanna) of Bloomington, IL, sister Jan (Dennis) Morgan of Lake Ozark, MO, brother Elmer “Skeets” (Nina) Jackson of Granite City, IL. Grandchildren Maya, Ian, Teagan, Cameron, and Quinn. Nieces Michele Mogan-Mohr and Kimberly Morgan-Mueller. As well as numerous dear friends in Central and Southern Illinois and Sun City Center, FL.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the medical staff of the Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa General Hospital, Lifepath Hospice, and the American Renal Dialysis Center for their special care and compassion over many years.

Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00noon.
Funeral: A celebration of life will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 12:00noon with Rev. Dr. Donald Wagner officiating.
Interment: Barbara will be interred at Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, IL.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.
