Arlene Louise, nee Thies, Fritsche, 88, of New Athens, IL; born on March 9, 1927 in Ava, IL; passed away on February 26, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Mrs. Fritsche retired after 20 years as a binder for Spartan Printing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arlene liked growing flowers, assembling puzzles and crocheting. Arlene also enjoyed bird watching. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Arnold and Irene, nee Moureau, Thies. Her loving husband Arnold R. Fritsche whom she married on April 17, 1949 in Campbell Hill, IL and who passed away on March 20, 2004. Also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by four sons – Mike (Brenda) Thies of Campbell Hill, IL; Kevin (Jo D) Fritsche of New Athens, IL; Narval (Christina) Fritsche of Lenzburg, IL; Todd (Vonda) Fritsche of New Athens, IL. Four daughters – Sheryll (Jim) Ragland of Henderson, KY; Marsha (Kenny) Harriss of Lenzburg, IL; Raegena (Jerry) Harriman of Marissa, IL; LaDonna (Bill) Petri of New Athens, IL. Nineteen grandchildren. Twenty-four great-grandchildren. One sister – Rosalie Rathert of Chester, IL. Two sisters-in-law – Norma Ernsting of Steeleville, IL; Margaret Fritsche of Percy, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the New Athens Home for the Aged.
Visitation: Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 9:00am to 10:00am.
Funeral: Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10:00am with Rev. John Lukomski officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
