ReplyMy condolences to the family of Mrs. Stutz. When I learned of her passing, I searched for and easily found the obituary. What struck me when I found the site was that my elementary school teachers apparently had first names! How odd it seems now that I never considered this as a child. Mrs. Stutz was my teacher 42 years ago. I could walk into the school building right now and take you to the exact room that was her classroom, at least when she was my teacher. I still remember the little toilets that were inside the classroom, the water fountain, the easel and the jugs of finger paints. I remember the desks, the tiny water fountain and the place where our coats hung. Sadly, the only memory I have specifically associated with Mrs. Stutz is that I had to stand in the corner one day. I don’t remember why…I only remember that while I stood there, I peeled some paint chips off the wall. I am sure there is value in this memory. Perhaps it is that I first felt the shame of being punished at school, and learned that there are consequences to negative or mischievous behavior. I am sure that Mrs. Stutz was instrumental in the foundation of my education in Freeburg, and for that I appreciate her and the years that she devoted to teaching. May she rest in peace, and I pray that her family remembers her with happiness.
