Lisa and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this most difficult time. So sorry for your loss.
Alvin H. Juenger

He was born August 16, 1958 to (late) Wilfred and Helen Juenger, who resides at Freeburg Care Center.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Edward Schott and sister-in-law Leslie Schott.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Schott) Juenger, whom he married on June 12, 1982 at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church. Also surviving are his three children: Jonathan ‘John’ Juenger of Fairview Heights, Joshua (Linda) Juenger of Trenton, and Trisha (Bryce) Karban of Waterloo. Grandkids: Charlotte & Cole Juenger, Caleb, Carleigh & Cadence Juenger. Siblings: Linda (Harry) Meyer of Waterloo and Dennis (Tina) Juenger of St. Francis, KS. He was loved by a large extended family.
Alvin was adored by his grandchildren and loved taking them on tractor and skid steer rides, showing them all around the farm, and giving them ice cream. His smile was contagious and he didn’t know a stranger, partially because you could always find him wearing his ‘go to’ work shirt from Gateway Co Packing and enjoying a nice Milwaukee’s Best Light.
He worked at the foundry prior to being the Maintenance Supervisor at Gateway Co Packing. He was a member of St. Agatha’s Catholic Church and St. Clair County Farm Bureau.
So in the words of Alvin, “I’m fine and dandy, like cotton candy.”
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 from 4:00-8 p.m. at Heil Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. In an effort to keep our loved ones safe, COVID-19 restrictions will be followed, masks required, social distancing, and please keep your visit brief and refrain from contact.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha’s Catholic Cemetery in New Athens with Fr. Von Deeke officiating.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Lisa Juenger) and will be received at the visitation or by mail to Heil Schuessler Funeral Home, 101 South Jackson, New Athens, IL 62264

This news breaks my heart for you all. I always looked up to all my older cousins and he was certainly no exception to the ‘fun’ cousin who was always enjoying a beer, chatting it up with everyone! Huge loss for our family.

I did not know Al well but certainly knew him by reputation. He will be sorely missed by all who’s path he crossed. He has been taken from us way to soon. I am quite sure the good Lord has a need for more like Al.

So shocked and saddened by Alvin’s passing. To us, he was the friendly neighbor down the road who farmed the land in front of our house – often with help from his sons or others in the family. We enjoyed some fun conversations and family updates over the years and certainly liked watching Alvin’s crops grow through the seasons. Distinctly remember the time when he spooked two young fawns while combining and stopped to get out and watch them prance about. We’ll miss him.

Dear Lisa and Family! We are so saddened to hear of Alvin’s untimely passing. He was definitely one of a kind and never failed to come up to us and talk to us whenever and wherever he saw us no matter how long it had been since we last saw each other. He always made us laugh! We always thought of the two of you as extended cousins. I am certain that Alvin is upstairs joking and dancing with Aunt Nora and they are having a ball! You have our deepest sympathy and you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God watch over you and help you through this difficult time. Please let us know if we can do anything for you.

Dear Juenger Family, my heart goes out to each of you. My husband, Brad, worked with Al at Gateway Co-Packing for several years. Brad really thought a lot of Al. Brad valued Al’s friendship and advice. I was always hearing some story or incident about something that happened at work with them. May your sweet memories and prayers give you comfort in the following days.

Deepest sympathy to your family on the passing of Alvin. I only talked to him a few times through the years, but was always greeted with a big smile. You could tell he was enjoying himself when he was giving the grandkids a ride on his tractor when working the field in front of my house. Sorry for your loss.

To the entire family,
I am so sorry to hear about Alvin’s passing. Our family has fond memories of him and the crew bowling every year at Crazy Bowl at the Bowling Alley in New Athens! I don’t think I have ever laughed as hard in my life bowling with Alvin and the crew. There was never a dull moment. Prayers to all.
