Alice and Cecil started Foertsch Pest Control and Tree Service in 1963 which they successfully ran for 35 years.  In 1998 their son Jerry Foertsch inherited the business which he still owns and operates.  Alice was one of the first three women to receive her pest control license in the State of Illinois. She was also the bookkeeper for the business and a homemaker. She had also worked at the First National Bank in Marissa for 5 years from 1954 – 1959.  She enjoyed gardening and canning, and she loved sharing her bounty with family and friends.  She was famous for her pickles, beets, apple butter, jellies and pies.  Many would come to the annual Foertsch barn sale to buy her homemade items.  She also raised many beautiful varieties of flowers in her garden.
Alice was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a good friend to many. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a kind and generous person who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Alice also loved animals, especially her horse, Judy which she rode for many years.  She also enjoyed travelling to horse shows that her daughter JoAnn competed in with her pony and quarter horse.

We met Alice back in 1993. Alice was the emergency contact for Kyle in school, since we worked outside of town. Her warm smile is what comes to my mind. I know her and Cecil are now together again. We will forever remember and cherish our times together. So blessed to have known them. Their childrens love and support is an example of how they raised them. We are all praying for you. We love you.
