Albert “Ab” Winter

Albert F. “Ab” Winter, 80, of New Athens, IL, born August 31, 1940 in Belleville, IL, passed away on Tuesday February 16, 2021 in New Athens, IL. Mr. Winter was a retired coal miner. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion, New Athens Sportsman’s Club, UMWA and Ducks Unlimited.
Mr. Winter was preceded in death by his parents; Russel and Irene (Worms) Winter, 1 daughter; Darlene Winter, brother; Wayne Winter and two brothers-in-law; Jim Martin and Kenny Ehlers
“Ab”, as he was known, is survived by his wife; Beth (Wolf) Winter, who he married on April 12, 1971 in New Athens, IL, his children; Albert Cole (Angela) Winter of Waseca, MN, Whitney (Daniel) Aubrecht of Okawville, IL and Cheryl Hoff of Hecker, IL, two sisters; Jean (Reuben) Hazel of Lenzburg, IL and Francis Martin of Bowling Green, KY, one sister-in-law; Evelyn Winter of Marissa, IL; eight grandchildren; Tyler Cozine, Amy Winter, Oliver Aubrecht, Amber Winter, Hillary Winter, Sean Packer, Shannon Packer and Dana Packer and also by eight great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion.
Visitation; Friends are invited to join the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday February 27, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL.
Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday February 27, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL with Rev. Robert Koch officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
